Surbiton Station Week 9: Final Projection

Tonight we projected onto the Surbiton Station during the Surbiton Christmas lights turn on. After collecting everyone's final footage and editing them within the Millumin software, we set up the projecters and displayed them onto various parts of the building.

I feel this went really well and has given me a lot of experience in public screening and setting up of equipment. There were both pros and cons to the night however which we found during the event. For one thing, we could only really test the projections after dark because the lighting was still very strong and the animations could not be seen. Another problem we encountered was the placement of the building and where the projecters were placed. Unfortunately, the building was on a diagonal to the station so that the projections were being shown on a slant. Once we had gone downstairs to view the final thing, these could not even be seen when standing far to the right of the station. The front of the building was quite an awkward place to project, as opposed to the side which was also used. However some of the projections were obscured by enother block just below it.

It seemed that the best animations were the ones that either had high contrast, or vivid colours that showed up against the white of the station building. All in all I believe the night still went well, and lots of people seemed to stop and take notice of the films.
